Trees of Pioneer Town

I recently found myself on the set of an old fictional cowboy Wild West town. Here are some trees from that set -

Old cowboy set

Somewhere in the Californian desert is an old cowboy set left over from filming Westerns. Half of the sets have now been turned into full time housing or motels and the others are still there for the tourist to have a look around. Here is a garden of one of the now permanent houses -

Salton Sea

Just outside of Palm Springs is a very small town called Salton Sea. It was regularly frequented by the likes of Frank Sinatra and Jerry Lewis and was, at one point in history, an attempt to be the Californian French Riviera - even though it's formation was a complete accident. Today, it lies almost desolate with just a few hundred locals trying to save it and return it to it's past glories -

Death Valley

As a kid i would watch Westerns and long to be a cowboy. Having spent two days and nights in Death Valley in 48 degree heat but with the luxury of a van and air-conditioning - not a horse and a tree or cactus for shade - I've quickly changed my mind. It would have been a pretty brutal lifestyle.
